Why Personal Brand is important
Personal
brand is absolutely everything. It's what people are saying when someone isn’t
in the room. It is everything stand for - both inside and outside of work.
Personal brand is important and unique. It shouldn't be something taken
lightly. A personal brand isn't a "nice to have", it is a necessity. Personal branding is the conscious
crafting of a person’s public identity, which includes their image, their
story, and their position within particular communities. Branding is
deliberate, but it doesn’t have to be inauthentic. In fact, personal brands
best succeed when they’re perceived as genuine self-expressions
Personal Branding Tips
This may be the most
time-consuming and difficult step for most people because it involves diving
deep and exploring core values, beliefs, passions, and mission, as well as
looking at what makes different and laying out experiences. Once it’s done brand
statement could be created a short, cohesive explanation of who, and what sets apart.
The brand serves as a guide for brand identity.
Make sure existing social
media accounts or other online marketing channels are professional and align
with brand identity. Unprofessional images, posts, or comments can be a red
flag to audience and potentially sabotage the brand. And don't assume that
personal social media accounts won't affect brand. If personal accounts are
drastically different from professional accounts, people will perceive as
inauthentic - which leads us to the next point.
Follow relevant influencers
who have a lot of followers, share good content and have a consistent brand.
Engage with them by sharing, commenting on and liking their content. This is a
good way to get the name out, network with similar people and build
credibility. Follow competitors too. This gives an idea of what they're talking
about and may offer bits of inspiration.
Consistency is key in
branding. Post consistently, use a consistent voice, and use consistent fonts, colors,
and images. Consistency fosters reliability which fosters trust
Conclusion
A personal brand statement is a couple of
sentences that highlight unique skills and experience. It's meant to be a quick
introduction to people who discover online because it summarizes what can offer
them. Basically, it's a catchphrase, tag line, or elevator pitch as a
professional individual
